All the Sangiovese used to produce this Riserva comes from the Fontelontano vineyard.
The name Fontelontano comes from the presence of a nearby water spring where people used to go to get water in the past.
Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Fontelontano is made only in the best vintages.
Grapes: Sangiovese from the Fontelontano vineyard (about half a hectare)
Vinification: destemming, soft pressing, fermentation
in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 28°-30°C,
maceration on the skins for about 20-25 days with
extraction technique carried out with delestage (one per week)
and replacements that are reduced during the process
Aging method: 36 months in 5HL French oak barrels.
followed by another 18 months of aging in bottle
Aging potential: 10-25 years depending on vintage
Color: deep ruby red with light garnet highlights
Nose: hints of black fruits, vanilla and spices such as white pepper.
Palate: dry, enveloping, austere but velvety.
